Gardens of the World Sponsors Easter Celebration for
Foster Care Kids
The Hogan Family Foundation hosted an Easter Celebration
for the Foster Care Families of the Family Services
Division of Ventura County at the Gardens of the World
in Thousand Oaks on Saturday April 3 from 10 a.m. to
12 p.m. About 125 children and 50 adults attended the
very popular event where they had the opportunity to
participate in games and races and meet the Easter Bunny
in person.
A
6’ plus Easter Rabbit held court in the American
Bandstand while the many children enjoyed the celebration
of spring. The grassy amphitheater in the center of
the Gardens was the location of the Egg and Spoon Race,
the Bunny Hop Race and the Easter Egg Roll. Filled Easter
Baskets were awarded the winners who raced in the own
age categories. The “Jelly Bean” Guessing
Game winner was awarded a large stuffed duck and there
was plenty of candy and eggs to go around. The Gardens
of the World Docents and Jr. Docents coordinated the
event and kept things running smoothly.
The
Easter Party was an outreach of the Foundation’s
“My Bag” Children’s Foster Care Support
Program in which the Foundation provides bags filled
with necessities to foster care children moving from
home to home. Foundation spokesperson Dale Cowgill said,
“It is a joy to have the opportunity to make a
contribution to the lives of these kids. The Foundation’s
pleasure is in watching the faces of these wonderful
children laughing and having such a great time.”
